In a sport where most competitors are men, Ashley Force Hood is fast. She won the funny car division of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) championship, the first woman to do so. It was her second win of the year in the funny car division.
In her own words…
“… Everybody that I ran against gave us a great race. It was side by side all the way down the track. It just showed how good the Funny Car class is and how good all the Funny Car teams are. It takes the whole package to win. You have to have a driver that’s on their game, crew chiefs that can figure out and tune to the track and a crew that puts together a perfectly assembled car. When you have a whole field of sixteen teams that are on their game that is a pretty impressive sight.”
