A withdrawal from competition at the Luxembourg Open raised suspicions of a gambling link with Caroline Wozniacki. She denies these allegations completely. For the sake of any investigation to clear Ms Wozniacki of any wrongdoing her injury has been confirmed:
“… A spokeswoman said yesterday: “The Tour is aware of the situation surrounding Caroline’s retirement due to injury. There is no question that she was injured during the match; however, we are looking into the circumstances that led to her retirement as well as the consequences that stemmed from her retirement. We will have no further comment until the review is completed.” The WTA added that “a hospital exam and ultrasound confirmed the injury”.”

To remove even the slightest suspicion of impropriety, it is to Caroline Wozniacki’s best long term interest to have the injury confirmed and documented. She does not want these allegations to be linger in any manner.
