Questions Follow Caroline Wozniacki

58743750As Caroline Wozniacki prepares for the end of the season matches in Qatar, the issue that follows her is the allegations of links with gambling. Ms Wozniacki has had to address the issue again:

“Caroline Wozniacki insisted Monday she did nothing wrong when quitting a match while leading 7-5, 5-0, saying the decision had nothing to do with betting.

The 19-year-old Dane retired at the Luxembourg Open with a hamstring injury last week while leading Anne Kremer of Luxembourg when she was just one game away from victory.”

A huge contributing factor to this controversy is the exchange heard between her coach (and father) and herself. Apparently, the instructions to Caroline Wozniacki were overheard via an online stream. It speaks to matters of security and privacy but it also draws focus to coaching during matches. This would be a non-issue if coaching during matches were to be banned and that restriction enforced.

Meanwhile, while withdrawing at the Luxembourg Open, ironically Caroline Wozniacki has moved up two places in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings. She is now Number Four.
