There are high expectations for Maya Moore and the University of Connecticut Huskies. The basketball team is picked number one at the beginning of the season and are expected to defend their NCCA title:
“… “You could put Maya with middle-school players and they’d be good,” said Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer, whose Cardinal visit Connecticut on Dec. 23 in a rematch of teams that have split Final Four games the last two seasons.
Moore’s knee is fine, as she showed in September and October during a half-dozen practices with the U.S. national team. She and Charles more than held their own with pros in sessions conducted by Connecticut coach Geno Auriemma, who will handle the national team through the 2012 Olympics.”
