Zenyatta ran with the boys and beat them for the Breeders Cup. At one point, Zenyatta was running last but she made up ground:
“Given a very confident ride by Mike Smith, who was last for much of the way, Zenyatta weaved through the pack turning in, switched round Twice Over, who ran a gallant third, and wore down Gio Ponti in the last 100 yards. The darling of American racing, the 60,000 crowd roared their approval for the great filly and the likely Horse of the Year as she returned to the winner’s circle in front of a packed stand.”
